At Little Signers Club you can rest assured that you are in the hands of an expert teacher. Many of our teachers are either already qualified in British Sign Language level 1 or are undertaking their training. Some are qualified to Level 2. All of our teachers hold enhanced CRB checks and have long standing experience with children.
Each teacher has to show us that they not only have a detailed knowledge of baby signing but that they also understand the different phases of child development and keep up to date with current research.
We take communication seriously and have partnered with ICAN, the charity that supports speech, language and communication development in children, to make sure that our communication development information and practices are right up to date. During our training with ICAN we focused on:
- Awareness of the development of speech, language and communication skills in children under 3 years;
- Understanding the processes of communication up and beyond first words;
- Identification of risk factors which impact on the development of communication skills;
- Understanding the role that Little Signers Club teachers play in supporting speech, language and communication development in children aged 0 – 3 years
As a result of attending this training, Little Signers Club teachers are able to advise parents competently regarding communication development milestones for their babies. Where a teacher has attended this training, you will see the ICAN logo on their teacher page.
In addition, Little Signers Club teachers receive specialist Special Educational Needs and Deaf inclusion training to enable them to support parents of all children who may wish to attend baby signing classes.
